Despite the closing of Abandoned Planet, the Mission District remains a bookstore destination. Our favorites include Modern Times at 888 Valencia Street, and the Adobe Bookshop at 3166 16th Street (pictured here).
Adobe was open all day during Abandoned Planet’s finale, as we were informed by this unofficial greeter.
Aardvark Books at 227 Church Street is Mister SF’s top choice. A good old-fashioned or independent bookstore always carries plenty of plastic book covers for fifty cent or a dollar…
…and has a nice cat in a warm window.
