Dateline: Lower Nob Hill, 870 Bush Street, where on this day in history, chiropractor and mad queen Lance Farber had a lover’s quarrell with his boyfriend, Planning Director John Rahaim, before Farber trashed the historic San Francisco landmark Dennis Sullivan Fire Chief’s House. The City had generously provided Rahaim, a new city employee and an emigree from Seattle, with free temporary accommodations in the Sullivan House. Following the late-night hissy, Farber spent six weeks in jail, with bail set at $1 million. He eventually pled guilty to vandalism and settled with the City, owning the bill for over $50,000 in damage to the historic property, including fire damage. The City said it would also end the practice of using the property as a guest house.
