San Francisco in Cinema: Dirty Harry

The McDonald's at 701 Third Street was Tiger's, also burger joint, when Dirty Harry uttered the emortal words, "Go ahead. Make my day," at this location in Sudden Impact (1983). Before that, 701 Third was Doggie Diner No. 29. Some movie guides incorrectly give the McDonald's address as 695 Third Street and state that the location was a Burger Island restaurant at the time Eastwood filmed there. However, Burger Island was alive and well at 695 Third Street in January, 2003. Burger Island occupied #701 from 1991-1996. Between Tiger's and Burger Island #701 was Fats Burger, and Fat Cat Burgers.
Washington Square in North Beach is one of many locations around town that appear in the Dirty Harry film series starring Clint Eastwood. The original film is dedicated to members of the SFPD who died in the line of duty. Other action titles featuring Eastwood as the cop who breaks every rule in the name of justice are Sudden Impact, Magnum Force, The Enforcer, and The Dead Pool. While a complete list of Dirty Harry locations would read like a map of the City itself, following are some of Harry Callahan's haunts:
