San Francisco in Cinema: Further Tales of the City

Golden Gate Park
When Prue Giroux follows her dog down a path in Golden Gate Park she has no idea she's about to embark on a romance with a mysterious stranger in Further Tales of the City. The third installment of Armistead Maupin's saga of San Francisco picks up four years after More Tales of the City and finds Mary Ann Singleton struggling in her career as a TV personality, while Michael Tolliver tries to cope without his ex, Dr. Jon Fielding. DeDe Halcyon Day returns with the adventure of a lifetime and a story that might just take Mary Ann out of the matinee movie and into the newsroom. One story, about a suitor for Mrs. Madrigal, does not appear in Maupin's books but was added here to reprise the popular Mother Mucca (Jackie Burroughs) character from the second series. This entry delightfully recaptures the energy of the first Tales of the City. Directed by Pierre Gang for a 2001 premiere broadcast on Showime.
