Located in the
City's rock hotel, the Tenderloin's Phoenix, Backflip was among
the hippest bars in town during the dot com boom and into the new Millennium.
Everything was cool at Backflip - the drinks, the staff, the music, and
most of all the atmo. The beautifully glowing blue hues and shades of the
club's decor helped make the place a draw for enthusiasts of sophisticated
cocktail culture, as did its great dinner menu and outdoor access. In December,
2002, Backflip bellyflopped.
