The remains of the Caribbean Zone restaurant and dance club sit in the shadow of roadways at 55 Natoma Street in the Transbay Terminal redevelopment zone. Before the tin shack venue closed in 2000, it was a hot spot for drinks like the Banana Monkey and Blue Hawaii. The Caribbean Zone was decorated with foliage, waterfalls, and a retired airplane that once belonged to the Doobie Brothers. The plane's windows were replaced with video monitors displaying scenes of flight. Its cockpit was still intact. The joint that once looked like a party that broke out around a plane crash in a jungle looks like a wreck itself in these 2004 photos.
