Sunday, March
30, 2003. San Franciscans celebrate the end of the Central Freeway's
Fell
Street Off-Ramp. The demolition represents the end of a decades-long
battle known as the Freeway Revolt.
Former Supervisor and longtime Planning Commissioner Sue Bierman commiserates with Supervisor Tom Ammiano and Assemblyman Mark Leno (center). Former Supervisor Amos Brown (far right) and others recall that San Francisco led the way for other communities in America to reject freeways. |
