Hank Wilson

Hank leaves an indelable impression on the Castro and San Francisco through his 30 years of work on behalf of gay liberation. Hank was a great friend of mine. I was glad to see him in October at Del Martin’s funeral, where we had a robust conversation as always. I first met Hank in 1990 when, as a young journalist, I was doing a story on the UN Plaza AIDS/ARC Vigil. I continued to follow his efforts and of course supported Hank’s uncanny 1999 write-in campaign that almost put Tom Ammiano in the mayor’s office. He was truly one of those faces that made San Francisco a place of neighbors and friends. Read more about Hank Wilson.
