<< Back  The Loma Prieta Earthquake struck at 5:04 pm on Oct. 17, 1989. The 7.0 quake interrupted the first game of the World Series, claimed 63 lives, and created a lot of the structural damage that would lead to a renaissance for the City. In short, it turned our lives upside down.
