A word about private property. A good traveler never, ever gets caught trespassing.
Keeping nit. What is it? Nit, keeping it, and the person who is the nit is just one example from a veritable dictionary of Australian slang in Prisoner. In Kew, even birds keep nit. Watch and see but don’t be a sticky beak, you big galah.
Welcome to Woodridge. Like Wentworth and Barnhurst, the men’s prison is played by the back of something else. The former Willsmere Asylum, Kew, 1-258 Wiltshire Drive served as an occasional change of venue beginning with Episode 318.
The former Kew Asylum was repurposed for residential use beginning in 1993.
How we got there: From Flinders Street Station we walked 7km to Kew on a beautiful, glorious day. We went east on Flinders Street to Wellington Parade, northeast through Fitzory Gardens to Albert Street, left on Hoddle Street, then right on Johnston Street. This is where the athletes are separated from the more casual traveler. As Johnston changes to Studley Park Road be aware you’re in for a hike. (The former Kew Asylum is visible from some points along Studley Park Road, far in the distance, perched on a hill beyond a vast gulley.) Studley Park Road leads you to the center of Kew. Left on Princess Street northbound, turn left on Main Drive, right on Oak Ct. Find the former Kew Asylum where Oak Ct. meets Pine Ct. If you wish to visit by tram in a fraction of the time, from Flinders Street Station, take tram #48 toward North Valwyn disembark at Kew Junction/High Street. Proceed on foot northbound on Princess Street as above.
