Yes, the Pizza Hut on stilts – where Mum Brooks, having served over a decade for the mercy killing of her husband, has her first post-Wentworth meal – is still there!

The Pizza Hut scene in Episode 2 is a cornerstone of Prisoner, in that it crystalizes the audience’s understanding of the familial abandonment of ex-cons, just as Bea Smith’s relationship to troubled daughter Debbie captures the struggle of all prisoners who are separated from family members.

Mum takes her own suitcase and walks away after she realizes that she is not forgiven and was long ago abandoned.

How we got there: From Flinders Street Station take the Bulgrave Train to Ferntree Gully Station. It’s a 2.6km walk to Pizza Hut/Seaspray Pools, so take a cab if you wish. Exit the station on Station Street heading south .9km. Turn right on Burwood Highway for 1.7km.

Seaspray Pools, 829 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully.

The famous Pizza Hut on stilts is not to be confused with the current Shop 9 Pizza Hut seen here.

Incorrectly named as the Prisoner filming location by some online outlets, Shop 9 is actually located a couple of miles east of Seaspray Pools.
