Alcatraz Rebooted

Attorney General Robert Kennedy ordered the prison closed following multiple escape attempts and because of the exorbitant cost of housing prisoners on the punishing island. According to Park Rangers, it would have been cheaper to house inmates at the Waldorf Astoria.
