The busy plaza in front of City Hall, on the Polk Street/Carlton B. Goodlett side, is a daily site for festivals, celebrations, demonstrations, press conferences, protests, and more. Though commonly referred to as Civic Center, the plaza's correct name is the Joseph L. Alioto Performing Arts Piazza.
