True, Hyde Street Pier attracts its share of visitors, but this great living museum, and the entire Aquatic Park including the Municipal Pier for that matter, are often overlooked by tourists in favor of Pier 39 and by San Franciscans wary of tourists altogether. It's a beautiful place that celebrates San Francisco's maritime heritage and has plenty of elbow room. A delight day and night. The Municipal Pier, destinctive on any map of the City, juts out as if to tickle Hyde Street Pier on the Bay. With pot holes every few feet and long gone lamps, the Municipal Pier is in poor condition and that's a pity.
