With the ever-inflated real estate market in San Francisco making every patch of dirt worth a bag of diamonds, Odd Lots like the one at 1638 Larkin Street are a major curiosity. How did they survive the dot com boom? Why has no one built on them, even in popular neighborhoods? In 2003, this odd lot's number was up. It was on its way to becoming the footprint of a new 8-unit apartment building. The single-family home would be demolished.
