Dr. Paul O. Cruz of Los Angeles.

Wedstock: On Tuesday, March 2, 2004, African-American ministers and their followers from San Jose and Southern California demonstrated against Mayor Gavin Newsom's nondiscriminatory policy in regard to marriage licenses for same-sex couples.

Before praising gay marriage on the Chris Matthews Show on NBC shortly after the marriages began, the gay conservative writer and commentator Andrew Sullivan said, "I know I'm supposed to be a pundit here, but this is my life." (Sullivan's remarks were prescient of the removal of Rachel Gordon from the story by the San Francisco Chronicle after the reporter married her lesbian partner on March 9. - HD) While each gay or lesbian member of the media will make their own choice in regard to how they cover the story, as a Wedstock groom, Mister SF's editorial position is clear. Please allow these images of anti-gay demonstrators to speak for themselves and read Heart of the City 03/09/04.

Thomas Fleming of the highly respected Sun Reporter - San Francisco's only black newspaper when it was founded by Fleming in 1944 - has authored an editorial in support of gay marriage. Read about Thomas Fleming.
