We caught up
with the lovely and charming Alka Chandna,
director of the San Francisco Vegetarian Society's Food and Social Justice
Project, in this cow suit at San Francisco's Earth Day celebration in 2000.
There, Alka promoted awareness of the environmental and health consequences
of the beef industry. The udders of the costume Alka wore were touched
by Julia Butterfly Hill, the activist who lived in a 230 ft. redwood tree
in Stafford, California, 230 miles north of the City, for two years and
eight days beginning in December, 1997.
