Mark Harmon and
Sean Connery star in director Peter Hyam's 1988 crime drama The Presidio.
Standard Hollywood treatment is rife with cliches, prompting film critic
Roger Ebert to note, "The whole movie has the feeling of a clone, of a
film assembled out of spare parts from other movies." City locations including
a nighttime car chase and, of course, the famed military installation liven
things up. Harmon's San Francisco cop, Jay Austin, is called in when a
female officer is shot dead at the Presidio Officer's Club. Connery, looking
great in Army uniform, is Colonel Alan Caldwell, who helps Harmon solve
the crime by rote. Meg Ryan is the colonel's daughter. Also starring Jack
Warden as Sergeant Major Ross Maclure.
